Order a project

When your design is ready, Add to cart puts your project in the cart for the selected product, size, page count, finish, or quantity. You can add more projects and order them together.

Before you start

  1. Finish any open text edit and wait for it to save.
  2. Check the product and price shown above the project.
  3. Look through every printable page, cover, and card face.
  4. Confirm names, dates, spelling, photo crops, and page order.

See Review before ordering for a focused checklist.

Add your project to the cart

  1. Choose Add to cart above the project.
  2. If Quality Check Results appears, choose I’ll Fix These to return to the editor or Ignore and Order to continue with the listed issues unchanged.
  3. Wait while Adding your Photo Book to the cart… is shown, naming your product. Editing is paused while the project is prepared.
  4. Motif Studio takes you to the cart in the same tab. Use your browser’s Back button to return to the editor.

Do not close the project while it is still saving or being added.

You can order several projects together. Each one you add becomes its own line in the cart, labelled with the project’s name so you can tell them apart. To add another, return to the editor, open the next project, edit it as usual, and choose Add to cart again. On a computer the cart icon in the header opens the cart; on a narrow phone screen the editor hides that icon to fit the toolbar, so use My Projects, which always shows it. Choose Check out there when you are ready to pay for everything in it.

Motif Studio checks that Shopify uses the same account before opening the cart. If sign-in is requested, use your Motif Studio account. If the accounts differ, return to Studio and sign out. Sign in again with the account you want to use, then reopen the project and choose Add to cart.

Signing out of Motif Studio in a web browser also empties your cart, so someone who signs in next on that browser does not see your projects.

In the Motif apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, the price button checks out that one project directly, and the header shows no cart icon. To order several projects together, use Motif Studio in a web browser.

In the apps, checkout uses your signed-in Studio account when available. If your checkout session cannot be renewed, checkout continues as a guest.

If you start a new sign-in in the same tab, an unfinished Add to cart action is cancelled. After signing in, open the project from My Projects and add it again.

If cart sign-in cannot finish, choose Back to My Projects. Check your cart before adding the project again; returning to My Projects does not repeat the unfinished addition.

Start checkout through chat

In an editable project, you can ask Motif Studio to buy, order, or check out the current project. When the response is complete, Your project is ready to add to the cart. appears. Choose Add to cart to add it and open the cart.

The project remains protected from edits while it is being added to the cart.

Return from checkout

Use your browser’s Back button if you need to return to the editor from the cart or checkout. Motif Studio refreshes the editor before making it available again, so it loads the latest saved project instead of a browser-cached copy. Review and save any new changes before choosing Add to cart again.

The cart keeps the version you added. After you change a project that is already in your cart (including its name), choose the price button again (its label is Update cart) to replace the cart’s copy with your latest version. The cart keeps a single line for the project, and your quantity carries over. Change how many copies you want using the quantity control on that line in the cart.

Download a print PDF

On a computer, Cmd/Ctrl-click Add to cart starts the print-ready PDF download instead of adding to the cart. Keep the project open while Creating and validating your print PDF… is shown. If the PDF opens in the current tab, use your browser’s Back button to return; Motif Studio refreshes the editor with the latest saved project.

The PDF is intended for reviewing the project’s print output. Product ordering, payment, delivery, and available options are shown in the cart and checkout, and may vary by the selected project and region.

After placing an order, see Production, shipping, and delivery for current U.S. estimates, international delivery guidance, tracking, and delay steps.

If checkout does not open or the preparation message does not finish, see Editing and ordering problems.
